Sunway Pyramid

Sunway Pyramid was opened in July 1997 as Malaysia’s first themed shopping and entertainment mall. It is strategically located within Klang Valley, in the township of Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya. Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel and Sunway Lagoon Theme Park is located just beside the mall. With its equally popular sister entertainment haven Sunway Lagoon, the shopping mall is obviously a must visit tourist destination.

Sunway Pyramid is built on 15.5.acres of land with gross built-up area of 2.5 million sq. ft. One of the most easily recognized designs is the Egyptian-inspired architecture Pyramid with a lion standing guard at the entrance to the mall. It is all set to roar with shopping delights, food, fun and entertainment for all.

Sunway Pyramid is also one of the only shopping malls to have an indoor ice-skating rink, known as Sunway Pyramid Ice. It is Malaysia’s first and largest indoor ice-skating with Swiss Winter Garden ambience. If you are looking for a different shopping experience, this mall is worth visiting.

There are many places around the mall where one can enjoy various activities like bowling and snooker. Head for Pyramid Mega Lanes is located at the first floor. It is a fully computerized bowling centre with 48 lanes. This centre has been the venue of many international championships. The Snooker Centre is just next to bowling centre, which is opened daily from 10am to 10pm.

Sunway Pyramid’s new wing or Pyramid 2 was opened in September 2007. It is open to newer retailers with Jaya Jusco as one of the main tenant, taking 4 floors. Other outlets include Harvey Norman, Lorenzo, Marks & Spencer, Lacoste, Raoul and so forth. It is also plays host to many exclusive boutiques. At the moment, all retail lots have been taken up.

Expansion of the parking area to nearly 8 floors makes this place popular with tourists, local and foreign alike. Sunway Pyramid is the first shopping mall in Malaysia using parking system, where parking lots are installed with sensor to detect the availability of parking space. We no longer need to drive around for minutes to look for parking space.
